I created this space as a forum and an archive for us Oníṣẹ̀ṣe. This platform gives any member the power to create their own community. Much like how our tradition is decentralized in Yorùbáland. Each community will be dedicated to an aspect of ìṣẹ̀ṣe làgbà such as an Òrìṣà, Odu Ifa, or even a town or village. Below is a simple guide to the website.

Login/Sign Up

If you are on desktop, Login/Sign up is in the right hand corner. Create your username and password. Afterwards, take a look at “settings” in the drop down menu. There you can do further customization to your profile and change your display name. The display name allows you to use tone marks in your username.

Communities

If you are on desktop/laptop (Mobile explained later), you should see the “Communities” tab to the top left of the website. Select this tab and you will see the current list of communities that were created. Communities will serve as an efficient way to archive posts to their relevant subjects. For example, if you would like to read posts regarding Orunmila, select “Ọ̀rúnmìlà” and you will see every topic regarding him. If you are familiar with Reddit, Communities are essentially “SubReddits”. Remember that any member can create their own community as it is an aspect of our tradition. Select “Create Community” tab at the top left. You will be asked what to name it. The name of the community (that will show in the url) and the display name. These two can be the same but keep in mind the display name supports the use of tone marks while the other does not. You can also (Optionally) add an icon, banner, and images in the sidebar to decorate your community.

Note that created communities will be approved at the discretion of moderators.

Create Post

Next to the “Communities” tab you should see “Create Post”. This is mostly straightforward but you will notice that you will be unable to create the post without choosing a community from the drop down box. It is important that you choose the community that best fits your post. But if you are in doubt, you can post to the “Ìṣẹ̀ṣe” community, which acts as a space for general posts. Posts from every community will be visible on the homepage.
